Catchment Kids was formed in 2000 to encourage and nurture the participation of our young talents in all facets of the Performing Arts.  A Kids concert was held every year up to 2007 when we commenced producing a full-scale junior musical production each year.

The reaction from all quarters was one of unanimous acclaim.  The shows have been successful in every way, with many individual & company awards coming our way over the years.  Most importantly though, is that the Kids have a great time rehearsing & performing the shows.  Many strong friendships have developed amongst cast members & they all look forward to the next production.  A number of our Kids have also furthered their career both within Catchment, & with other amateur & professional companies.

The first show opened at one of the small theatres attached to the Northcote Town Hall.  The season was a complete sell-out, & so an encore season was presented at Darebin Arts & Entertainment Centre.  Since then the shows have always been performed in the same venue as other Catchment productions.

The shows performed over the years have been:

2007 - "Seussical Jr."

2008 - "Aladdin Jr."

2009 - "Alice in Wonderland Jr."

2011 - "Into the Woods Jr."

The cast of these shows is always made up entirely of young actors.  The minimum age can vary between productions, but the maximum age is 18.  Our Kids are encouraged to take on leadership roles.  A challenge that many seem to relish.
